McKinsey & Company: External Relations Manager (Brussels, Belgium)

With consultants deployed in 50 countries across the globe, McKinsey advises companies on strategic, operational, organizational and technological issues.

For our office in Brussels, we are looking for an outstanding (m/f) External Relations Manager who will be in charge of defining and delivering the external communication programs and reputation-building activities for McKinsey in Belgium, working closely with our leadership.

Activities encompassed within the role include, but are not limited to:

• Enhancing the reputation of the McKinsey in Belgium through first-class media relations and other externally-facing activities, based on McKinsey's proprietary research
• Building contacts in leading business and trade press
• Establishing a comprehensive mapping of influencers and driving comprehensive outreach programs to these audiences
• Developing a network of local McKinsey partners to represent the firm to external audiences
• Providing high-quality writing support (e.g., articles, speeches)
• Ensuring coordination and integration of the external communications programs with McKinsey's global priorities

The ideal candidate will have:

• A strong university degree, complemented by an advanced degree or other professional training
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a communications-related field (e.g., journalism, PR, publishing) or in a senior communications role in business
• Experience in managing reputation risk and crisis situations
• Fluency in English, Dutch and French
• Outstanding problem-solving, influencing, interpersonal and writing skills
• Self-motivation, confidence, diplomacy, sensitivity to and discretion in handling confidential information
