Dow Corning: Europe Corporate Communications Specialist Posted 2009-12-04 Dow Corning develops, manufactures and markets silicone-based products and services and offers more than 7000 products to more than 25000 customers around the world. Dow Corning is US based company and is the global leader on the silicone market. The Seneffe site in Belgium, established in 1970, is the European Headquarter and houses all the commercial, production and research & development activities for the Sealants/Fluids and Emulsions. There are about 600 people working on the site. Products produced and developed in Seneffe are used by many industries - construction, detergent, cosmetic, textile and paper. More than 95% is exported worldwide. We are now looking for: Europe Corporate Communications Specialist *The challenge* The jobholder will have both external and internal communications responsibilities. He/she will position, promote, and defend the company's reputation among key stakeholders and support the corporation's strategic direction and priorities through public relations in Europe. He/she will: Contribute to the strategic development of the global public relations (media, thought leadership) plan and support implementation in Europe Lead implementation of earned media relations and executive thought leadership within European region Co-ordinate external communications agency partner to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the European region Prepare executives/managers for media interactions and speaking opportunities research material, write content, provide briefings and evaluate outcomes Build relationships with media contacts (print, online and social media) - pitch stories, research and write content, respond to inquiries Collaborate with webmaster to enhance corporate content on local language websites Be a member of the crisis communications network for Europe Represent Dow Corning within industry associations. He/she will support European and global programs to communicate with employees to build their understanding and commitment to Dow Corning's strategic direction and priorities. He/she will: Contribute to the global strategic development of the internal (employee and management) communication plan and support implementation Lead specific programs and provide stewardship for specific tools, especially in Europe Develop and edit content for internal communication channels Support the European Works Council Actively seek opportunities to integrate internal communications/external communications Develop and/or implement internal communication plans as needed Act as member of the global internal communications team Undertake projects as required to support strategic direction communications as assigned. *The profile* The ideal candidate: has a university degree in communications, journalism, or business has at least five of professional communications experience, with demonstrated ability in strategic communications planning and implementation and media relations (portfolio required) has experience with internal communication (employee) has excellent professional writing and editing skills and is familiar with journalistic writing style has excellent networking skills and is able to work in a multi-national firm is able to act both independently and in concert with a global team and able to build relationships in person and virtually is actively looking for creative solutions to deliver client satisfaction, improve efficiencies and utilize best practices has good project and time management skills and is able to juggle different tasks can understand needs for adapting solutions/approaches to meet cultural/business needs and practices in specific geographies can establish connections between business needs/strategies and communications opportunities and can provide communications advice and support to use communications effectively for business success. is fluent in English and German.
